When Beth Boen, owner and trainer of The VOICE Customer Experience was dreaming of a leads group that would meet her needs as an established, professional mom-preneur, she never imagined that dream would become a reality with SHE Leads Group. Beth had been in a variety of leads groups over her more than ten years in business. She knew what worked well, what could work better, and what definitely didn’t work for established, professional business women. She wanted to help other women just like her. Those dreams turned into a reality on May 10, 2016 when Beth Boen started the first chapter of SHE Leads Group. The letters S H E stand for Supporting Heart & Enterprise™. This month, SHE Leads Group celebrates its third year!

Beth Boen started SHE Leads Group, after being in another group for three years. She was in this other leads group for her other business, The Voice Customer Experience. She was the top lead passer and had stellar attendance. But, when her son was diagnosed with some medical issues, she asked to take a hiatus. The president of that group told her, “Either you are here all the time or you are not here at all.” Beth immediately left that group to the shock of many in it and searched for something that would support her as an established, professional business owner and mom. She visited many different groups and none met her needs, so she decided to start her own group in the basement of her home. From there, the original chapter of SHE Leads Group moved into a member’s conference room space. Other women in Denver metro came to Beth to start more chapters. SHE Leads Group now has three thriving chapters on the South end of Denver.

Beth Boen says, “At SHE Leads Group, we are not a typical leads group. Sure, ‘leads group’ is in our name, but we are really about leading each other to success through professional and business development training and building long-term relationships where each and every one of us is willing to stake our stellar reputations on each other. We do a lot of things out of the norm compared to other business leads groups.”

First, Beth wanted a leads group that would be respectful of women’s busy schedules. Many business women are moms and often the ones taking their children to school. Most leads groups meet well before most school drop-off times. Secondly, most women have two full-time jobs – one in their professional business and one as full-time caregiver to loved ones. Meeting weekly for most women can be challenging. So, SHE Leads Group only meets twice a month. On off weeks, members are required to do a one-on-one networking meeting with someone in the group. Like other groups, there is an attendance policy, but it allows for when life happens. For example, when a child gets ill, it is usually mom who has to stay home with their child. Beth Boen states, “Our attendance policy allows for these types of absences. We all try very hard to not miss a meeting, because we only have two meetings a month.”

Another way SHE Leads Group does not fit the norm is the professional and business development training provided at each meeting. Beth Boen is a professional trainer and keynote speaker with more than 30 years of experience in sales, marketing and customer service and she brings that expertise to her members with a library of training on the Members area of the website and with presentations at meetings.

Another big difference in SHE Leads Group is that it is for established (not start-up) businesses. Additionally, members cannot be a member as a network marketer, part of a multi-level marketing organization (MLM’s). Members in SHE Leads Group are established businesses and the women representing those businesses are either the owner or in a business development role. Beth Boen says, “As established business professionals, we have years of connections in the Denver metro area. We are also deliberate in knowing who our business referral partners are and look for those business categories to join.”

The SHE Leads Group vetting process is also very thorough and different from other organizations. “We vet new members for professionalism, their providing a top-quality product or service, and their ability to provide exceptional customer service. We check applicant businesses on the BBB and for their online reputation. After all, we are all staking our reputations on each other when we refer. We do not accept any warm body”, states Beth Boen.

There are many other differences to SHE Leads Group and women who come as a guest typically comment on how welcome they feel from the moment they walk through the door. They acknowledge how different the support and format of the meetings are compared to other groups they have attended. SHE Leads Group is expanding this year and is looking for women who are well connected in their area to start their own chapters. SHE Leads Group currently has three chapters in Highlands Ranch, West Littleton, and their newest chapter is the B2B DTC chapter.
